Purpose
The purpose of this project was to provide insight to the business about which items were performing best and worthy of more promotion, and where to focus investigation as to why products may be underperforming to ultimately make relevant sales and marketing decisions.
Results / Stakeholder Suggestions
After importing the sales data into Tableau, I related the tables to examine any correlation between Price and Average Product Rating.

The ultimate determination was that there was no direct correlation between Price and Average Rating. I recommended that the company invest more into the higher performing products to maximise their profits, particularly the products that have a greater profit margin such as the 'memory foam mattress' and the 'Premium Coffee Maker', since from retail domain experience I am aware that the profit margin on televisions is low.
I also advised them to consider the amount of marketing put into the cheaper and lower rating products to see if there was an opportunity to increase profit on those items, and if there had been a significant marketing campaign put in place, to consider focusing more attention on the better performing products as mentioned above.
Some important variables to consider that could merit further investigation to support the investment or withdrawal of certain products include the demographic of the buyers, and seasonal purchases. This would help to create an even more focused action plan for the business.

Process (SQL)
Using SQL I was able to filter the categories of products and average rating to determine that the Premium Coffee Maker was the product with highest rating, and the Smart Home Security Camera the least.
With this information, the immediate points for the business were to consider how much marketing has been spent on each product, the demographic of they buyers, and the seasonal purchases to uncover areas of opportunity to exploit high sales in the Coffee Maker, and to uncover gaps for why the Security Camera has not performed as well.
Still, in order to gain further insight I also identified the product price ranges to determine if there was a correlation between rating and price.

Process (Tableau)
Finally, in order to visually relate the tables, I imported the sales data into Tableau, and related the tables by "Item Name" to examine any correlation between Price and Average Product Rating.
